Larry Heard – Ice Castles LP 2x12"
Larry Heard has nothing left to prove: under his own name and as Mr. Fingers, the Chicago producer is one of deep house's true architects, and Ice Castles ranks among his finest late-90s albums. Originally released in 1998, it finally returns on a fresh 2x12" via Alleviated, his own label. Don't read too much into the "techno" tag: this is deep, melodic, introspective house, where warm pads and round basslines take their time. "Crystal Fantasy" and "Night Images" set the late-night mood, "Techno Centric" and "Bongo" bring the groove, and "Carla's Dance" (later revisited on Sceneries Not Songs) is a quiet gem. A record for anyone who loves house that breathes. Audio previews on the product page.
