Jonathan Kaspar – The Reason Why
A fresh round from Jonathan Kaspar on Damian Lazarus' Crosstown Rebels, a four-tracker that stretches wide without ever losing focus. Opener 'Take Control' is all tension: a searching lead synth over tight, dusty tech drums and a groove that never lets up. The title track brings in Bákayan's vocals over a deep, dreamy groove, full of smoky soul and human warmth. On 'Play With Me', Kaspar takes the mic himself for a trippy, late-night grower laced with sci-fi synth details, while 'I Love Your Voice' closes things on a widescreen, immersive mid-tempo note. Well-crafted tech house from a producer on a serious hot streak.
