Tom Carruthers delivers four cuts rooted in the hardware techno tradition, no frills, no revisionism. On Rotterdam Electronix, the British producer sticks to his method: raw machines, tight groove, nothing wasted. "Release It" and "Lost Control" set the pace somewhere between acid and late-night techno; "Energy" lives up to its name and "Fusion (DNA mix)" closes things out with just enough tension. This is functional club material, made for the floor rather than for show. If you're into the raw approach and productions that get straight to the point, this one belongs in the crate.
