Guillaume and the Coutu Dumonts – Interrobang EP
Guillaume Coutu Dumont has never made house like everyone else. Trained in electroacoustics and Latin and classical percussion, this Montreal producer who moved on to Paris then Berlin brings his own blend to his solo project: house, jazz, gospel, techno and afrobeat colliding together. This Interrobang EP on Chiwax rolls out four club-ready cuts, from the organic groove of "Pluck a Duck" to the closing "Pastrami Summer", by way of "Vitamine B" and "Keep Mum". Living rhythms, percussive texture, that slightly off-kilter swing that defines him: this is a long way from sterile house. A safe bet for anyone who likes it when the machine keeps a soul. New vinyl, audio previews available on the listing.
