The Free Radikalz is the alias of legendary New York producer DJ Spinna, joined here by keyboardist James Hurt. First released on Wonder Wax in 2004, "Open Up" has become a genuine deep house soul classic: a warm male vocal, live keys and a cosmic groove that channels Sun Ra and Stevie Wonder. The Main Vocal Mix stretches out over nearly ten minutes as a spiritual builder ("free your mind, release"), while the flip-side Dub Mix — still a Danny Krivit weapon — remains the DJ's favourite tool.
