S.A.M. – Mastermind
S.A.M.'s first outing on Kalahari Oyster Cult, and it's a strong one: the Danish artist delivers four tracks that keep house balanced between the direct and the contemplative. It opens hard with 'Right To Disobey' before 'Cute Little Trance' leans into its nods to '90s Eurodance and the trance builds of the era. The B-side drops the title track 'Mastermind', big room and spacey at once, then 'Crush' to close on a more inward note. The kind of EP that moves from dancefloor to meditation without strain, carried by warm pads and vocal hooks that stick. A well-judged tech and deep house record for sets that want to tell a story.
