Jonny Liebeck – Church & Raves
Jonny Liebeck is a London pianist and organist, a Royal Academy of Music graduate whose backstory says it all: as a kid he played the church organ at Sunday Mass before falling for deep house and jazz. "Church & Raves" bottles exactly that — the sacred and the dancefloor — on his own Sacred Dancefloor Jazz label. This isn't glossy pop: it's organic, hands-on jazz house. "Modal House" lives up to its name with modal chords and breathing groove, while "Underground Soul" and "In My Feels" lean warm and soulful, and "Dancefloor Motive" opens the record with real drive. A coherent, honest project for anyone who loves it when jazz and the club actually talk to each other. Pre-order, new vinyl, audio previews on the page.
